All over the world there’s a great interest in sustainability, healthy eating habits and the quality and safety of food. Designer Katja Gruijters has made the topic of waste her main theme, and developed a concept in which depreciation and wastage of food is preventable – and the consciousness of consumers and companies is raised.

Nature herself is an example; nothing is lost, after all, in the cycle of nature. Katja Gruijters’ alternative kitchen is therefore called Naturally Beautiful’. The development of this concept has been taken onboard by a constantly changing group of specialists from various disciplines. For example, the Food & Biobased Research organization at the Wageningen University has looked into the consequences of waste. A confrontation with thoughtless consumers and the urgency to develop another kind of behavior. What role can designers play in this process? is the topic of this evening activity. With, among others, Katja Gruijters. Moderators are Marjan Boot and Ingeborg de Roode.
